Village Views has been edited by a small team of volunteers who coordinate all the news articles and format them to produce the quarterly magazine. The magazine is enjoyed by residents and has many articles about village life.

Winter Gritting

Winter Gritting

The weather is starting to turn wintry with blizzards in the North today.

The areas the Parish Council will grit are:

1. Entrance from the QEII Playing Field, High Street to the Doctors Surgery.
2. The Rookery Steps & Ramp
3. Footpath through St. James' Churchyard

Gritting will only take place on the days the Council's Groundsman works i.e Monday– Friday (mornings)

Community Litter Pick - Cancelled

Community Litter Pick - Cancelled

Due to the Covid Lockdown, the Little Paxton Community Litter Pick planned for Saturday 7th November has been cancelled.

The next litter pick will be held in the Spring 2021.

Little Paxton Celebrates Green Flag Award

Today it's time to celebrate as Little Paxton Parish Council has won a Green Flag Award for the QEII Playing Field & Children's Play Park.

The Green Flag Award is a prestigious Award Scheme managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The Award Scheme recognises & rewards well-managed parks & green spaces setting a benchmark standard for their management across the UK.

Progress on blocked drains & gullies

Progress on blocked drains & gullies

A site meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon with an Officer from CCC Highways & Parish Cllr Bob Webster to look at flooding in the village. The meeting had a positive outcome and the following works will be taken forward:

The gullies around the location of the flash flooding at the junction of St James Road Gordon road and Lakefield Avenue will be cleaned.

Flash Flooding Little Paxton

Flash Flooding Little Paxton

In August rain storms caused flash flooding in the village - Lakefield Avenue, St. James Road, Gordon Road and other areas were badly hit.

The Parish Council has surveyed over 90 drains/gullies and 80% of these drains are blocked and/or have vegetation growing from them.

Cambridgeshire County Council Highways have been approached for the drains/gullies to be cleaned as a matter of urgency.

Cambridgeshire Libraries can now accept new referrals to the Revised Library@Home Service. This service is open to Cambridgeshire Residents who fit a set criteria: -

The service is for anyone who usually relies heavily on reading books or listening to audiobooks AND who is either housebound or shielding/isolating due to age or health conditions under the current COVID-19 Government guidelines.

Children's Activities -School  Summer holidays

Huntingdonshire District Council Active Lifestyles Team are organising the children's activities to be held on the QEII Playing Field Little Paxton on Wednesday 29th July.

There will be a limit on numbers of children attending to meet current COVID 19 restrictions.

Instead of a 2 hour slot as previously advertised, there will be 2 x 1 hour sessions ( 2pm - 3pm or 3.15pm - 4.15pm).
