Our Cub Scout Pack can is split into smaller groups called Sixes. Cubs take part in a wide range of activities designed to be interesting and challenging. A Cub Scout meeting consists of games and activities with plenty of time spent outdoors.

Little Paxton Scout Group

We are the 1st Little Paxton Scout Group. We are part of the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation. We offer young people fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact on our local community.

Beavers (ages 6–8, Wednesdays 17:30-18:45)

Our Beaver Scouts are our second youngest members. They meet weekly during term time to take part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts, singing, visits and good turns, along with plenty of outdoor activities.

They will also have the opportunity to take part in the fun and excitement of camps and sleepovers. It may be the first time they spend a night away from home so it’s a real adventure for them.

Scouts (ages 101⁄2 – 14, Mondays 19:00-21:00)

Our Scout Troop consists of small units of six to eight Scouts called a Patrol, led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. Throughout the year, Scouts learn various skills, such as map reading, camp cooking and first aid in preparation for camp.

Rock climbing, potholing, gliding, photography and international experiences are just some of the things they get up to.

Angling ClubPaxton Pits Sailing Club (RYA Affiliated)

Paxton Lakes Sailing Club provides active race and social sailing enhanced by a scenic lake and grounds which are ideal for picnicking and camping. Paddleboarders are welcome.

We sail most Sundays, March through to November, and operate a rescue boat facility plus a galley serving refreshments. From May until September, Wednesday evening sailing is popular, especially for mums and dads who can’t fit in weekend sailing.

What must be stressed is that once you are a member you may sail at any time although you will wish to take into account the weather conditions. We find this social sailing is often accompanied by a picnic. A wonderful way to spend a warm sunny day.

The age range of the membership is from eight years and irrespective of age all are encouraged to enjoy their sailing.

The Club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre providing the highest standard of tuition by qualified instructors always accompanied by safety boats. Courses have a maximum of twelve places ensuring personal attention.
